best film adaption of a book I've ever seen

Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory (1971)

This film, despite being hindered by lack of technology and film resources in the 70's, created some amazing sets and bought a huge sense of magic and fun to the film. It wasn't just a simple adaptation of the book, but instead, an exciting and colourful version you could watch on your screens. For me, the fact that this film bought so much joy and vibrance to help bring the story alive, makes this film an easy winner in my eyes.
